Fall is in full swing here in New Jersey, and there's no better way to celebrate the arrival of the season than a trip on the Great Pumpkin Train, operated by the Delaware River Railroad.
The first stop of the adventure will be at the pumpkin patch, which sits on a picturesque glade in front of the century-old Carpentersville Lime Kilns.
The lime kilns are the oldest and largest in New Jersey. In fact, they date back to the Revolutionary War.
Also on site is the Ol' Susquehanna Mine, a noteworthy attraction in and of itself. Upon arrival, your guide will tell you the story of Sylas Smith, who found the mine.
Visitors will learn about the process of panning for gems and then try for themselves. Gems could include amethyst, rubies, rose quartz, emeralds, crystals, and arrowheads.
This farm features an intricate and festive corn maze, where visitors can choose between two interactive games: the numbers game and the Monster Mystery Game. You'll find out more on-site!
Throughout the day, you'll also have the opportunity to enjoy a number of gorgeous picnic groves. It's the perfect place to reflect on the day, enjoy a picnic, and surround yourself with beautiful pine trees.
No matter your age, you’re sure to find your experience on the Great Pumpkin Train to be engaging and exciting. Curious to learn more about these offerings? Be sure to visit the official website by clicking here.
Admission for adults is $18 and for children is $12. The mine experience and corn maze games cost an additional $5 per ticket. These can be purchased at the station.
