We’re always on the lookout for fun places to hike in New Jersey. One underrated gem, Schooley’s Mountain Park, can be found in Long Valley. It’s perfect for families since there are easy, graded trail options as well as rock-hopping options, and spots to wade in waterfall pools along the way.
Schooley's Mountain Park is one of the best places to hike in New Jersey! You'll love walking and climbing in the boulder gorge carved by Electric Brook.
There are multiple trail options here. Because of the rocky nature of the boulder gorge that's so attractive, we recommend wearing sturdy shoes. If you hike here in the summertime, bring a bathing suit and wade in the waterfall pools!
The variety of trail conditions makes it easy to plan a hike for your family. If you have very young kids, they can enjoy the views, plants, and looking for toads and turtles. Older kids will want to climb on the rocks and splash in the brook.
