You'll Be Happy To Hear That New Jersey's Fall Foliage Is Expected To Be Bright And Bold This Year
Summer isn’t over yet but it sure has felt like it lately. Still, that means we have autumn adventures (like pumpkin picking!) and fall foliage to look forward to. What can you expect color-wise this year? A spectacular show! Read on for all the details.

Our differences are what ensure that we enjoy gorgeous autumn colors every year. While some years are better than others, our wide variety of trees means there is going to be some color. New England forests are dominated by sugar maple, while New Jersey has it all (almost). We can enjoy the deep hues of oak and hickory, a vibrant splash of scarlet oak, the mahogany color of ash, the brilliant yellows from tall, quickly-growing tulip poplar, the golden leaves of the black hickory and the magnificent glow from multiple varieties of maple. How lucky are we? Travel And Leisure Magazine named Cape May as one of the best places to take enjoy the fall foliage IN AMERICA! Check out the view from the lighthouse.

Leaves start changing in late September and have mostly fallen from their branches by early November. Peak season for much of New Jersey is late October though Northwest New Jersey (including Mount Tammany) peaks earlier and Southern and Pine Barrens regions peak later. To see shades of yellow, visit these spots early in the season. For vibrant reds, closer to November is better. The exact 2018 peak foliage dates for New Jersey, according to the Farmer's Almanac are: Oct. 12-28 (Inland); Oct. 19-Nov. 4 (Coastal).
