Spring In New Jersey
What are some things to do in New Jersey in spring?
When spring starts to show its sunny warm face in New Jersey we all rush to get outside to enjoy it. Here are a few things to do in New Jersey in spring to get outside and enjoy the much-needed warmth:
- Go tulip picking: Holland Ridge Farm in Cream Ridge is a wonderful quiet spot in rural Monmouth County. You might be amazed to learn they produce eight million tulips every year! What started as a small farm in Holland was transplanted to New Jersey in 2018 - now the farm is open for U-Pick flowers. Expect the tulips to be ready around mid-to-late April each year. Even with all of those beautiful blossoms they do sell out, so make sure you plan your trip early.
- Hop along the Bunny Trail: Terhune Orchards is well known for its pick-your-own fruits and vegetables throughout the year, but its springtime event toward the end of March is hop-tastic. The Bunny Trail is a fun kid-friendly event where kids can color Easter eggs, pet adorable bunnies, and go on an egg hunt. You can get a refreshing apple cider slushy or maybe even a bottle of the Farm's many specialty wines (for the older bunnies in your group).
- Go to the bright and cheery Daffodil Day: One of the first signs of spring in New Jersey is the arrival of bright yellow daffodils. The Reeves-Reed Arboretum hosts this annual event around mid-April. See thousands of beautiful blossoms in the "daffodil bowl," then meet the workers who help clear it all out when the season ends - goats! Another special part of the event is Tea on the Terrace, where you can enjoy a hot cup of tea while looking out over the daffodil fields.
