Summer is here and that means kids at home, looking for some fun. A perfect family adventure, this one-of-a-kind park will take you back in time…90 million years back in time!
Please note, Field Station: Dinosaurs is temporarily closed.
Located in Leonia (40 Fort Lee Road), Field Station: Dinosaurs is an interactive experience that brings the Mesozoic Era to life. There are no visitors here, every guest is a scientist on an expedition. Your purchase grants you credentials to access the site.
The brand new Spinosaurus!
Field Station: Dinosaurs
Along your journey in the beautiful Overpeck County Park, you’ll come across 32 full-size animatronic dinosaurs. With a wide range of motion, they are incredibly realistic. From the daunting T-Rex to New Jersey’s own Hadrosaurus, you’ll be blown away by the detail. Once home to the Argentinosaurus – the largest creature to ever walk the earth and consequently, the largest animatronic dinosaur ever made - the behemoth succumbed to fire and was recently replaced by the Spinosaurus. One of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs, it is believed to have lived on both land and in water (much like a crocodile).
In addition to your immersive stroll through the past, the park puts on several shows sure to delight. There are over forty live shows, games and activities, which are all included in the day pass. Add on a black light puppet show for $5 more.
Spring season is in full swing, and the park is open on weekends until June 24th. The summer season kicks off on the 26th, and the park will be open from Tuesday-Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m..
For a truly unique journey, head back in the evening for Dinosaurs After Dark. You’ll be guided through the grounds by lantern, invited to play themed games, dine on roasted marshmallows and view a special film, but beware – there’s a T-Rex on the loose. Experience the thrill of discovery and make memories to last a lifetime. You'll need to wait until the fall (September 28 through October 27), you're sure to have fun.
Years ago, as a child, I visited a similar exhibit touring the Garden State. Called “Dinosaurs Alive,” it was perhaps half as amazing as Field Station: Dinosaurs. To this day, I look back on my visit and smile. A must for children, adults will be equally enamored with the experience. Did you know this park existed? Have you been yet?
