New Jersey’s Cups & Cakes sounds like it would be a bakery, and it is, but it’s so much more than that. This bakery, cafe, and juice bar is a local favorite for several reasons. The story behind this spot is so sweet, though it begins with tragedy. When Denise’s Kelleher’s husband Bob passed away unexpectedly, she left her high-powered career in New York City to spend more time with her son at home in New Jersey. Soon, she was selling baked goods to neighbors and at local markets. Before long, she was able to open Cups & Cakes, which has now been in business for a decade.
Just a short stroll from the Navesink River in Rumson, this sizable shop is community-centric. They've raised money for some wonderful causes over the years and they adapted quickly to keep customers and staff safe during the pandemic.
When it comes to the cafe, they've got pastries, sandwiches (you have the option to create your own from a wide variety of breads, meats, cheeses, and more), soups, salads, quiches, frittatas, and yogurt parfaits.
