New Jersey has no shortage of ghosts: We’re talking haunted restaurants, bars, museums, inns, graveyards, and more. And it’s not just ghosts that make the state creepy: There are plenty of other spooky and unsettling places in the state. These are just some of the creepiest things you can do in the state.
1. Check out the Death Seat.
You can see the Death Seat, a potentially cursed bar stool at Old Canal Inn. The char in the restaurant earned the nickname "The Death Seat" after two men who fought over the stool both died of heart attacks after sitting in it. Now, a famous burger at the restaurant is nicknamed after the seat.
2. Visit a haunted museum.
The Spy House, also known as Seabrook-Wilson House, was built all the way back in 1650. You can learn history here in this museum — but keep an eye out for the many ghosts that haunt this establishment.
3. Hunt for ghosts in a cemetery.
Graveyards are spooky enough — but Princeton Cemetery is allegedly home to ghosts. During the fall, you can take a ghost tour here complete with ghost hunting equipment.
4. Hike through a haunted forest.
There are many legends about Jenny Jump State Forest — including the story of a woman who leapt to her death here and haunts the forest to this day. Keep an eye out while hiking to Ghost Lake.
