Spring In New Jersey
What are some things to do in New Jersey in spring?
When New Jersey starts to wake up after a long winter, we look forward to getting outside and enjoying some spring sun and fresh air. Here are a few fun things to do in New Jersey in spring that we look forward to each year, and think you will too:
- Bunny Trail Spring Festival, Princeton, NJ: At Terhune Orchards you'll find a fun family-friendly spring event that is perfect for Easter. Kids will enjoy Easter egg painting, egg hunts, and a petting zoo with cute fuzzy bunnies. You'll be treated to the farm's delicious apple cider slushies and pastries as well. There are even over a dozen signature wine varieties made by the farm for adult visitors.
- Daffodil Day, Dayton, NJ: The Reeves-Reed Arboretum hosts this fun annual event that blooms in early spring. Daffodils are one of the first flowers to pop up when the weather gets warm in mid-April. The "daffodil bowl" is a vast field of bright yellow and white flowers that set the perfect background for Tea on the Terrace - enjoy a hot cup of tea and a meal while enjoying the view. Be sure to stop by the Reeves-Reed Arboretum shop for jams, jellies, and other goodies from farms in the area. Don't forget the petting zoo and informational displays for the kiddos, too.
- Maple Sugaring Festival, Dayton, NJ: Before daffodils start to pop up in April, the Reeves-Reed Arboretum is busy gathering sap from maple trees to turn into delicious maple syrup. This festival in early March is a fun way to learn about this fascinating process while getting to enjoy the fruits of their labor - tasty maple syrup-covered pancakes. Be sure to stock up on a few fresh bottles of maple syrup to enjoy at home.
Of course, we don't need a designated event to enjoy spring in New Jersey, there are plenty of places to enjoy a good nature walk. Here are some of our favorite hiking trails in New Jersey that are perfect for a spring wildflower hike. Gab a map from AllTrails+ and enjoy a warm spring day.
