The official first day of fall is September 22nd but will it really be fall if you don’t visit one of the Garden State’s gorgeous farms? Of course, but we’d rather make the most of it. New Jersey offers plenty of amazing autumn adventures but this one pick-your-own farm really knows how to kick start the season.
Alstede Farms is unlike any other farm in New Jersey. It offers a wide variety of activities, so you're sure to find something for everyone.
You can pick your own fruits and veggies. Currently available, you'll find apples, peaches, peppers, tomatoes, raspberries, eggplant, and flowers! In the fall, there will be pumpkins and gourds.
And there are all sorts of animals to visit. Meet their cattle, horses, sheep, goats, peacocks, miniature and large donkeys, ponies and mini horses, waterfowl, bunnies, cats, and poultry. Animal feed is available for purchase, or you can bring your own apples/lettuce/carrots.
The breakfast buffets can't be missed. The apple pancake breakfast will be held today (9/9) from 8-12:30. The pumpkin pancake breakfast will be held on October 28th from 9-1. Breakfasts include a tractor drawn wagon ride and admission to their pick your own fields.
The Harvest Moon Hayrides are a special treat. Enjoy fresh-pressed apple cider around a cozy campfire while listening to live music. S'mores kits and refreshments will be available for purchase. Take a hay wagon ride to their thrilling corn maze and traverse it by flashlight. Hayrides include a stop in the pumpkin patch.
Alstede Farms is located at 1 Alstede Farms Lane in Chester, New Jersey. The farm is open daily from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m..
