Sometimes, the most interesting places are hiding where you would least expect them. Cafe Archetypus is one of those spots. This prehistoric cavern restaurant is tucked away in downtown Edgewater, and it’s one of the most unique dining rooms in New Jersey.
Whether you're walking down the street or driving through town, it's easy to spot this Cave-themed cafe. Cafe Archetypus stands out. It truly looks like a cave, even from the outside.
The dining rooms are dimly lit, to make it seem like you really are in a cavern underground. The plants that climb the walls just add to the authentic atmosphere.
Be sure to save room for dessert, though. While the entrees and appetizers are good, it's the desserts that take dining in this cave to a whole 'nother level.
Take a peek at the menu and current hours, which may change seasonally, on the Cafe Archetypus website. Reservations are highly recommended, and necessary if you want to sit in your own private cave.
Have you dined in the Archetypus caves? Let us know how you liked it!
