South Jersey is a fascinating place, with so many small towns and far-flung destinations that even many New Jersey lifers don’t know about. I feel like I discover something new every time I visit – and one of my favorite recent destinations is Sweet Amalia in Newfield. Located on a country road, you’ll find the retail and restaurant outpost of one of the best oyster farms in the Northeast. Not only does this location serve the best oysters in New Jersey, which are used to supply many top restaurants, but the casual restaurant has gained a big audience in its own right. It serves delicious fried and grilled seafood, as well as a large raw bar selection. It’s no surprise that this all-in-one destination has picked up many awards including being named one of Esquire’s 40 best new restaurants in America for 2022. Make the trip down to Newfield and find out why this restaurant has picked up so much hype for yourself!
