Alien encounters happen in thick forests and isolated cornfields, right? Well, no. It seems like they can happen anywhere there is a clear view of the sky. In fact, the part of New Jersey that has the most famous UFO legend isn’t a nature spot at all — it’s a very tall residential building in a bustling New Jersey town: North Bergen.
Yup, North Bergen is the home of some unsettling alien encounters and UFO sightings (allegedly). Here’s why it’s New Jersey’s Area 51.
North Bergen may look like an unassuming small town, but it has been the center of some alarming alien stories.
The most famous tale takes place in North Hudson County Park circa 1975.
The park is now known as the James J. Braddock Park.
Multiple witnesses in the apartment building across the street (called "Stonehenge") reported seeing glowing orbs in the park while looking out of the tower.
Is it any coincidence this 35-story apartment building kind of looks, well, intergalactic?
One resident, George O'Barski, even wrote a piece for the Village Voice about seeing the light — and about seeing little creatures in helmets in the park.
UFO researcher Budd Hopkins even wrote a book about O'Barski's experience and the Stonehenge incident called "Missing Time: A Documented Study of UFO Abductions."
Since then, there have been dozens of potential UFO encounters around the Stonehenge building and the nearby park.
People have reported seeing fireballs, blue orbs, and strange lights in the sky of this hilly town.
Could it be UFOs? Or something less sinister?
