We’ve been all about the fall foliage lately, but today we’re focused on getting our feet moving. While you’re likely to experience some beautiful changing leaves on this short hike, you can do it any time of year. The most important part of the experience is the lovely bridge and beautiful waterfall that exist just a short distance from your starting point. So throw on some shoes and get moving for one of the most relaxing hikes you can take in New Hampshire.
Let's head to Franconia Notch State Park to explore the Whitehouse Trail! The route begins at the Liberty Spring Trailhead parking lot which is north of the Flume Visitor Center.
The short trail is accessible to those who can walk and hike and at 1-mile it's fairly short. Note that the trail is also an out and back route, which means when you're done you'll just turn around and head right back the way you came!
While not one of the state's largest examples of falls, this simple boulder waterfall is fun for beginner hikers to see after their first foray into the woods.
This hike won't take you all day and, while simple, it's one of our favorite go-to routes when we want to be outside without a lot of pre-planning. Have a friend who's just getting into appreciating the outdoors? This is a great way to get their feet wet.
Note: We mean that figuratively and definitely not literally!
