Right now, pretty much all New Hampshirites can agree on one thing – it is hot. Whether you adore summer or prefer the frost and snow, you’re probably more than a little uncomfortable right now. But don’t despair – there are plenty of adventures you can have here in the Granite State that’ll cool you down while giving you a thrill, and one of our favorites is white water rafting. The adrenaline rush is unbeatable! Read on for our tips on planning the perfect outing.
Our favorite white water rafting outfit in New Hampshire is ELC Outdoors in Errol, which offers spectacular white water tours in addition to aerial adventures and more. Their professional, kind, and entertaining guides make this experience a cut above!
For most of the trips, the meeting point is the ELC Outdoors headquarters in Errol. From there, you'll be brought to the spot on the river (for beginners, the trip on the Androscoggin is the best place to start) where your ride down the rapids begins. There are several different options with different rapids classes, and most of them include at least a couple of runs, and some even include lunch on the riverbank afterward.
The rapids definitely look scary at first, but your expert guides will navigate you safely through them. Once you're in the raft, it feels almost like an amusement park ride – one where you have to paddle, of course!
We're not going to lie – you'll definitely get wet. But what could be a better way to cool off on a hot summer day? Shooting right through a wave is an amazing feeling!
You might be scared at first, but know that you'll be grinning ear to ear by the end. Rafting is the perfect bonding activity for a family or a group of friends – you're sure to share some laughs (and maybe a few screams).
If you're ready to bump up the challenge a notch, you can even try out white water kayaking in an inflatable kayak!
And if just the rafting isn't enough adventure for you, you can choose a great combo trip that involves an afternoon of rafting followed by an evening exploring Lake Umbagog and searching for wildlife by pontoon boat as the sun goes down.
ELC Outdoors and White Water Rafting is located at 983 Upton Road Rt 26, Errol, NH 03579 . To learn more and book your trip, visit their website !
