The Granite State’s most iconic food can be a hotly debated topic amongst locals. Is it succulent, fresh-off-the-boat lobster? Wild, hearty, American game? We’ll leave that for you to decide! However, official or not, poutine, with all its cheesy, carb-laden, gravy-drowned deliciousness, is a dish that many a New Hampshirite can authentically brag about, courtesy of our neighbors to the north. This French-Canadian spin on over-the-top loaded fries is growing in popularity, claiming fame as a late-night hangover cure, game day treat, and comfort food favorite.
But here in NH, poutine in its peak form is all about having that coveted deep-fried, stains-on-the-shirt experience – and it better be overflowing with squeaky fresh cheese curds! While there are a multitude of scrumptious poutine options available around the state, the creative, edgy options served up at Vulgar Display of Poutine in Littleton are hands-down (sleeves-up) some of the best in New England. Check it out:
Hidden away in New Hampshire's small towns are a slew of fantastic mom-and-pop eateries, serving up homey, country-style dishes that warm the bones and drown every ounce of heartache you've ever had in warm, slow-cooked goodness.
Vulgar Display of Poutine in Littleton takes the idea of "comfort food" to a whole new level. This tasty poutine haven might be quaint and unassuming on the outside...
But "New England's only poutinerie" begins to wow the moment you step inside! This edgy hidden gem in North Country is daring in every possible way, from the food to the décor to the rad merch.
Being owned and run by punk-rock drummer, Ryan Fisher, paves the way for a little extra attitude in the kitchen - resulting in foodstuffs that are a delicious blend of innovation and… well, cheese. (We’ll work on that comparison later.)
Dishing up unique, never-tried-before poutine masterpieces….
Thick-cut fries, all the better to sop up gravy and toppings with, are just the foundation. Try the Tewksbuy Buffalo or She's the Wurst for something brand new!
This incredible restaurant is easy to fall for at first (cheesy, glorious, outrageous) bite. There are even vegan and gluten-free options, like the Vegan Big Mac's Two.
Of course, some poutine purists might balk at the ingenuity of the Rodeo Burger poutine, the smoked pork Street Corn of Rage, or the poutine pizza (Pizzine? Poutizza??).
We've officially run out of words for how delicious this place is. Can't. Even.
In true small-town fashion, Vulgar Display is also known for their collab partnerships with local artists, bakers, farmers, breweries, and more. There's always something new to see when you walk in. You'll also find awesome new drafts to try and regular special events to check out!
