There’s plenty of seafood to be found in New Hampshire – and we can all argue until we’re blue in the face about why our favorite spot is the best. One unfortunate thing about New England, though, is that many of the best spots are seasonal, while our seafood cravings last all year. One of our favorite spots, though, is open all year – and no, it’s not on the beach, but you’d never guess that from the quality of the food. If you haven’t been to Johnson’s Seafood and Steak, you have to plan a visit as soon as possible.
The original Johnson's in Northwood (there are several other locations) is an unassuming establishment – it's snack and dairy bar hints that it isn't a fancy spot. But unlike the outdoor only seafood spots, there is a sitdown, indoor restaurant section that's open year-round.
You'll also have plenty of choices when it comes to beverages. For such an an unassuming place, the beer list here is extraordinary. Craft beer lovers are sure to find something to their liking here!
Just be sure to save some room. You might be surprised to learn that they have an onsite bakery that turns out some of the most delightful pastries you've ever seen.
Fans of Johnson's will be happy to know that the restaurant is in the process of expanding and revamping its Northwoods location – but never fear, they're still open during construction!
