The 1-Mile Tucker Brook Loop Trail In New Hampshire Takes You Through A Beautiful Wooded Landscape

While it’s definitely still summer in New Hampshire, we’re getting ready to plan some of our favorite fall hikes. Many of the routes in the Granite State can be done any time of year (as long as you love snow!) but some are just a little more special this time of year. Maybe it’s the fact that we know deep green forests will soon give way to multicolored foliage. Or maybe it’s just that any hike at any time of year is great here. Either way, this route through the forest is a great one! And it even features a waterfall.

The 285 acres that make up the Tucker Brook Town Forest are a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the beauty that New Hampshire holds. It's also a good reminder that you don't need to tackle the White Mountains in order to get some great outdoor experience here.

The forest has 4 different trails, each making up their own loop. If you do each of them, you'll end up walking about 3 miles. They're all fairly simple, but we love the Tucker Brook Falls Loops which is only about 1-mile.

There are two different entrances to access the forest and both are connected by the Ridge Trail, which is about 1.3-miles. From here you can reach the Falls Loops via markings on the trail.

The Falls Brook portion of the trail leads past glacial erratics, which are large boulders left behind by a retreating glacier more than 10,000 years ago.

The trail itself is well maintained by the Milford Conservation Commission and you'll find nice features like this small wooden bridge over the brook. Details like this make the forest a fun place for kids to explore.

The brook flows different in every season. Be sure to visit in the spring if you want to see some roaring action.

Though much of the flow here depends on recent rain and the snowfall amounts during the winter.

The trail leads towards the falls, which are beautiful at any time of year. Of course, in the warmer months you might find it looking like this.

While the winter might show ice and snow. Either way it's fun to explore the area and see how the area can change depending on the season.

This is a wonderful hike to do in the morning if you'd like to do other things later in the day. It's not likely to wear you out and you'll love the views throughout the forest.

The Tucker Brook Falls Trail is accessible year-round. Dogs are permitted as long as they’re on leash. The parking area can be found on Savage Road in Milford.
