There is, without a doubt, something uniquely comforting about tea. Sure, all hot beverages are comforting, but the ritual of tea is what sets it apart. It’s all the better if you have a full, British-style tea-time, complete with pastries and teapots. If you fantasize about sitting down for a cup of tea like a character in Downton Abbey, we have just the spot for you – no plane ticket to England required.
The Silver Fountain Inn is an absolutely lovely historic inn in Dover, and it's a treat to stay there – but you don't need to be an overnight guest to enjoy the delights of their tea parlor.
This stunning space is open for tea and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Saturday, and it's absolutely worth rounding up a few family members of friends for a special trip. It's also the perfect spot if you're planning a bridal shower or other small gathering.
You'll feel like a member of the aristocracy as soon as you sit down, take in the room, and peruse the menu.
You can order tea by the pot or by the cup, and you'll be astounded at the varieties you can choose from, ranging from classic black tea to raspberry mint.
As you'd expect from a proper tea parlor, the scones, served with clotted cream, are out of this world.
For the full afternoon tea experience, you can order a tiered assortment of sandwiches and pastries. Each and every item is sure to be delicious!
If you're not in the mood for pastries, the sandwiches are also scrumptious by themselves.
Best of all, this is a perfect place to sip and savor. The fireplace and hot beverages will take the chill off on even the coldest of days – and we surely need that here in New Hampshire!
You can find The Silver Fountain Inn and Tea Room at 103 Silver Street, Dover, NH 03820. Reservations are not required, but are recommended.
If you like classic tea rooms, we have a hunch you’ll also enjoy dining in a library .
