The Magnificent Table Rock Trail In New Hampshire Leads To A Beloved Overlook

Just about any outdoor adventure in New Hampshire will produce incredible views. Even a simple walk in your very own neighborhood will remind you how lucky we are to be surrounded by forest, fresh air and views. But if you’re looking for a journey that’s a bit more involved, head to Dixville Notch State Park for this fun hike with a view like none other!

Head to Dixville Notch in Colebrook to access the Table Rock Trail, one of the most impressive in the state! This area is absolutely beautiful year-round, so you're likely to enjoy the trip to the trail just as much as the trail itself.

The 1.5-mile out-and-back route is considered moderate, mainly due to some rocks and the 750-foot elevation gain.

But it's this gain that helps make the views at the end so breathtaking.

The hike is simple to follow and the surrounding forest offers an ethereal vibe depending on the weather. In the summer you'll find lots of shade from the sun, too.

As you head towards the top, the trees will thin just a bit and you may be able to catch some early glimpses of the view that awaits.

But be prepared for some situations that take your breath away! And if you're afraid of heights, be sure to keep from looking directly downward!

At the top the view soars down to Balsams Resort in Dixville Notch and the surrounding area.

You'll also find an outcropping of rock with about 700 feet of vertical drop. This is another area where those who prefer sea level will want to keep from looking down. It's a long way!

Once you've enjoyed the view and taken some photos, remember to take a moment to appreciate all that New Hampshire offers.

And then, head back down to take the same trail to your starting point.
