Each year we look forward to summer in New Hampshire. We’ve got unbeatable weather that can only be found in New England along with various festivals and events that celebrate some of the best parts of the state. Whether it’s a small-town carnival or your own backyard party, getting outside to appreciate the day is always a good idea. And this annual festival is a great way to do it!
Coppal House Farm in Lee has been around in some capacity for more than 30 years. It got its start as a small family-owned and operated farm before expanding onto almost 80 acres in its current location. Over the years, they've added a variety of livestock, but their unique annual events might be what they're best known for.
Our favorite of these events is the annual sunflower festival that takes place every year when these magnificent flowers bloom, typically at the end of July.
Each year the farm plants acres of sunflowers in May, then waits patiently for them to bloom in the middle of the summer. While visitors are not allowed most of the time, they're encouraged and welcome to visit during this fantastic festival.
Tickets to the fun include access to the sunflower fields and the craft fair. Throughout the weeklong event visitors will also be treated to live music and the opportunity to meet the farm animals.
This is a great event for kids and adults, alike. And this year they've made sure to create a more accessible environment by allowing those with limited mobility access to a road that can be taken by car or van to get closer than they might be able to in a wheelchair.
Admiring the flowers is a great reason to visit. But we can't seem to leave without taking something with us! Be sure to stop in the store to leave with something sunflower-related.
Coppal House Farm Annual Sunflower Festival runs from July 31st through August 8th. Tickets can be purchased online here. Weekend admission is $12 for adults 13 and over and $10 for kids 5 to 12, the military, and adults 65+. Weekday admission is $8 for adults 13 and over and $6 for kids 5 to 12, the military, and adults 65+. Kids 4 and under are always free.
Limited mobility day is Tuesday, August 3rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During this time cars and vans will be able to access a field road to make sure those will limited mobility can get as close to the fields as possible. Tickets for that day are $10 per car and $12 per van. You can learn more about enjoying the sunflower festival this way here.
You can learn more about the festival on the farm’s festival website and on Facebook. The farm can be reached on 603-659-3572.
