There’s so much great food in this state. That’s a fact. From the larger cities to the smaller towns, great restaurants have been popping up for decades. These are great for celebration special occasions, but you don’t have to believe all the hype. You can get a perfectly delicious meal in tons of places that aren’t recognized in national publications. Our favorite? This market which secretly serves some of the best meals ever!
You might know Squam Lake as one of the most beautiful places to visit throughout the year. Summer offers boating and swimming, while fall offers some of the most spectacular foliage in New England.
Inside it's the most adorable general store sort of market around. The shelves are lined with both pantry staples and unique gifts you probably won't find anywhere else.
And it feels like it's been around forever! If you grew up going to the lake, there's a good chance you remember it as the Holderness General Store. It got a makeoever and name change back in 2012. This photo dates back to
1962!
Each day also has a new special. This one was a grilled chicken sandwich on a challah bun with BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, avocado, bacon, swiss and tomato.
While we love the excitement of the specials, the menu items are special o their own. This pan-seared rib eye sandwich comes with tomatillo sauce, avocado, arugula, red onion and tomato on a roasted garlic baguette.
We love this little market, although you can't really call it little anymore! It's grown into a community center that's beloved by locals and visitors alike.
The Squam Lake MarketPlace is open every day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can learn more about them on their website or check them out on Facebook. You can give them a call 603-968-8588.
