Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and in addition to a career in advertising has worked with OnlyInYourState since 2016, where her love for travel and storytelling converges. While the weather is still warm we’re continually coming up with ways to enjoy the seemingly increased free-time we have throughout the summer. From hikes to swimming to ice cream and great meals, the possibilities are endless in New Hampshire. But there are few things more than than a rafting trip! This river adventure is great for all ages and with more than one departure some days, you’ll have some more flexibility in your schedule.
North River Rafting has been in existence since 2002, making it one of the longest running raft operators in the state!
Owners Heather and Lincoln realized a need for a more family-friendly rafting business here and they set out to create it. The result is one of the best river tours in all of New England.
They operate tours through short sections of class II & III white water on the Androscoggin River in New Hampshire and they even have a class III operation in Maine.
While they offer a few different trips, a great intro for all ages is the trip at Pontook Dam in Milan, New Hampshire. You'll have the chance to experience class II and III rapids, finishing with a fun BBQ dinner back at the barn.
With a permanent home base at the Mahoosuc Inn, you can even choose to stay overnight. Plus, the inn offers the ability for those BBQs we mentioned. That's something you won't find with another operator.
Trip prices vary so be sure to check their website listed below. And remember that there's so much more than just white water rafting. You can go with a group and split into two with some heading down the rapids and other opting for a more relaxing tubing or canoe trip. It's all up to you during the summer in New Hampshire!
