It takes a lot for a restaurant to survive for more than 60 years – so when one does, you can generally be sure that it’s a spot worth visiting. That couldn’t be more true when it comes to this old-fashioned riverfront restaurant. If you haven’t yet visited, put it on your list!
Northland Restaurant in Berlin has been in operation since 1957, and generations have enjoyed quality food here, right along the Androscoggin River.
Drive up and you'll immediately notice the sign, still standing from the 50s. Make sure to take a picture – this is a great piece of retro charm.
The interior is modern and fresh, but full of charm. Most importantly, it has plenty of big windows for enjoying some truly stunning river views.
The river views are gorgeous in every season – you'll find yourself coming back over and over to see how it changes through the year.
The quality of the food matches the views, happily. They absolutely excel at comfort food, from chicken pie to beef stew and beyond.
No matter what you order, every bite is sure to satisfy. From burgers to fried seafood to steak, every member of your family will find something they love.
They also have plenty of lighter entrees, like tasty grilled chicken with veggie toppings. All the better to save room for dessert!
Their pie is award-winning – sink your teeth into a slice and you'll immediately understand why. Yum!
