Paradise Falls Is A Rare Underground Waterfall In New Hampshire You'll Have To See

If you live in New Hampshire and love exploring waterfalls, there’s a good chance you’ve heard this from someone you know. You see, some people just don’t understand that each waterfall is unique and special, which is why we continue our search for some of our favorites throughout the state. While located within a trail network that many people know about, not everyone realizes that one of the most popular falls is actually technically located underground. Check it out!

Head to Kinsman Notch in North Woodstock to explore one of our favorite (yes, we'll admit it!) tourist attractions. But this isn't just any busy New Hampshire attraction. This one is well worth the money and we'll tell you why.

First, some background. The gorge and caves were created by melting Ice Age glaciers. The resulting water rushed through the area, taking debris along with it. This carved the deeps chasms folks come here to explore.

After entering you'll be able to see every nook and cranny via the boardwalk trail and multiple stairs leading deep into the caves.

Viewing platforms make it easy to see some of the deeper caves. Which is what you'll be doing when you see this unique waterfall.

Paradise Falls is technically considered to be underground and once you're next to it you'll see why.

To see Paradise Falls, head about 0.8 miles along the looped boardwalk path.

Because it's technically located below sea-level, it's actually within a cave.

The only way to see it is from the viewing platform, which means you can't splash around. But, some things are best explored from a safe distance.

While it's true that this is a popular New Hampshire destination, the beautiful falls are worth the trip.

Lost River Gorge & Boulder Caves is open to visitors at different times throughout the year.

May-June they’re open 9am-5pm
July & August 9am-6pm
September-October 9am-5pm
