Up here in New England we’re lucky to have a great mix of foods. From Mexican to German and everything in between, it’s easy to travel the world without ever having to step foot out of our home state. But, one thing we’re especially grateful for is access to foods from across the Canadian border. Particularly, poutine!
Chez Vachon, located in Manchester, feels a lot like zipping over the border to Montreal. Except it's a lot more convenient and perhaps even better tasting!
They're known for a lot of things, but primarily for having some of the best French-Canadian food you can get in New England. Including their huge portions of poutine!
Poutine is a specialty of the region and features french fries, cheese curds and a special brown gravy. It comes from Quebec and first accounts of it date back to the 1950s.
But that doesn't keep it from being a stop among politicians during election times. Joe Biden included it on his route and we're pretty sure he must have loved the poutine.
And, lest you think they only serve poutine, rest assured that you can enjoy a full and hearty breakfast here, too. Including another specialty in the form of crepes.
And you can bet that anything you order will come out tasting delicious and piled high!
This special of the day featured chocolate waffles with strawberries and fresh whipped cream!
Stop in for yourself, but make sure you're hungry. There's a good chance you'll want to try it all and with portions this size that might be even more challenging than it sounds!
Chez Vachon is typically open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can learn more about them on Facebook. For questions they can be reached on 603-625-9660.
