Most of New Hampshire is lovely and full of beauty. Long hikes through the woods and sweat-inducing hikes uphill to scenic peaks are just a few of the things that make this state one of the best in the country. But, what about the things that happen after dark? In the woods and through the fog, there’s plenty of stuff happening that will spook you, scary you and make you want to stay inside when the sun goes down.
If you're one of those people who look for the creepier side of life, you're going to want to make a trip to Nashua for a stroll through Gilson Cemetery.
Legend says that the stone wall surrounding the cemetery once enclosed a small farmhouse that eventually burned down killing the people inside. These people were buried near the wrecked remains of the house.
Another house was built on the same location, but that burned as well. Just like the first fire, the people inside were burned and killed, eventually being buried in the same area.
Just up the road, folks say they've seen the ghost of a colonial woman named Betty Gilson. If you say aloud, "Betty Gilson, I have your baby" she will appear in period clothing looking to retrieve her child.
Whatever legends exist here, it's clear that this is a place to avoid at night if you're easily scared!

For more creepy chills, check out this hotel with a seriously eerie past. Spend the night in one particular room and you just might end up being awake longer than you anticipated.
