With the first major snowfall in the books, it’s time to start thinking about the best places to experience all that New Hampshire winters have to offer. There is nothing like spending the day outside skiing or skating and then warming up with a good meal by the fireplace. In the small town of New London, New Hampshire you can enjoy a perfect winter day trip full of great food, fun activities, and loads of history. Don’t let a little bit of snow stop you from having a season full of new adventures!
New London is an adorable little town in central New Hampshire. With just under 5,000 residents, you'll quickly notice that the New London community is very tight-knit. Don't be afraid to ask locals for directions, everyone here is warm and welcoming.
Start your day with a freshly baked cinnamon roll and a piping hot cup of coffee at Blue Loon Bakery. This local favorite is the perfect place to get your bearings before heading out into the cold.
You'll truly get the small town feels here. At Pine Hill, all the trails are maintained by volunteers. Trail fees are $15 for a daily pass, collected weekdays by the honor system, with collection boxes at the trailhead. On weekends, there is typically a volunteer available to answer questions and take admission.
Head back to town and check out the New London Historical Society Village. You'll love their vintage Christmas display that includes a Model T snowmobile.
A trip to New London wouldn't be complete without visiting the outdoor ice rink. The Bob Andrews Memorial Ice Rink sits between the New London Town Offices and the historic New London Inn. Who's up for a game of broomball?
