Hey! I'm a freelance writer and guidebook author. I've authored "New Hampshire's 52 With A View - A Hiker's Guide", serve as editor of Appalachian Mountain Club's "Southern New Hampshire Trail Guide", and and am co-editor of the "White Mountain Guide", also for AMC. I'm currently beginning work on the 6th Edition of AMC's Southern New Hampshire Trail Guide, which will be published in 2025. I live in southern New Hampshire and can usually be found wandering throughout the state's mountains and forests.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
So, maybe you like the idea of camping but prefer the modern amenities that are found in staying at a hotel. Well, there’s good news. If you haven’t heard the term “glamping” yet, it offers the best of both worlds, and you don’t have to travel into the wilderness to experience it.
Getaway Blake Brook is tucked into the peaceful forests of Epsom, New Hampshire, about an hour and a half from Boston and 20 minutes from the state capital of Concord. The namesake brook runs through the property and additional outdoor adventures await at nearby Epsom Town Forest.
This outpost, as Getaway refers to it, features 42 tiny cabins on 49 acres of private land. The cabins are scattered throughout the property with enough space to ensure quiet and privacy, and are accessible year-round.
A stay at Getaway Blake Brook is intended to be a chance to completely shut off the outside world for a while. One of the amenities is a cell phone lock box that will hopefully remove distractions and ease you into a relaxed state of mind.
Even though you'll be out in the woods, it will feel like you're staying at a luxury hotel. After a hard day of exploring the area, hiking, or seeing the sights (or doing nothing at all!), relax in a large, comfortable bed with a front-row view of the forest. Late risers can pull down the shades for more shut-eye.
No dehydrated meals here. Each cabin has a full kitchen equipped with a sink, running water, and two burner stove. Utensils and cookware are also included. All you need to bring are the ingredients for your favorite meal.
You can also add what Getaway calls their Sustenance Box to your reservation. This package of goodies includes oatmeal, soups, pasta, and a variety of snacks.
For more information and to book your stay at this unique and sophisticated retreat, visit the Getaway Blake Brook website. It’s the perfect place for some well-deserved downtime!
