If the temperature is above 32º F you can legally idle for 5 minutes. Between –10º and 32º F you can idle for 15 minutes. And if temps are below –10º? Well, then you just go out there and idle for as long as you'd like. But, while you won't be ticketed, it's always nice to remember those around you and the environment.

Idling can be tempting when faced with the prospect of getting into a cold vehicle, but consider a few facts.

First, idling isn't actually a great way to warm up your engine. The best way to do this is to drive the car. Second, depending on the size of your engine 10 minutes of idling will uses the same amount of fuel as traveling five miles!

There are impacts environmentally, too. Each gallon of gas that's burned is equal to about 20 pounds of carbon dioxide which contributes to climate change.

An alternative to idling is simply not using your car! How about getting to your destination on foot and enjoying the scenery of the state?

Do New Hampshirites have any strange habits?

While we like to believe we're normal, New Hampshirites have some strange habits. It's no secret that we typically see some brutal winters. And so, with streets and major roads covered in snow, it's not uncommon for us to get from one place to another in a snowmobile. Life must go on, after all! This is one of the most beautiful roads trips you can take in the state and it draws people from all over the world. Here in New Hampshire beauty comes in all forms, including places to eat. The Italian Farmhouse in Plymouth is a local favorite, but there are plenty other beautiful restaurants in New Hampshire. There are also quite a few beautiful hiking trails to explore, including Ripley Falls in Crawford Notch State Park and The Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Newington.
