We won’t beat around the bush: There are lots of great places to hike in New Hampshire. We could list ten and still be missing some of the best! While we wont try to claim that this particular route is the best, we will tell you that it’s something you need to do. A few hours of being out and about can calm stress and promote feelings of hopefulness!

Big Rock Cave Trail, near Tamworth, is a looped trail that covers about 3.5 miles of beautiful land.

To access the caves, you'll head up Mt. Mexico, a 2,000 footer in the southern portion of the White Mountains.

You can access the trail off of route 113A where you'll make your way to the Ferncroft parking area.

While we're partial to the Big Rock Cave Trail to get to the top of the mountain and the caves you can also use also the Cabin Trail.
The route will take you through the forest and among large trees and plants, but what we love most about this hike are the caves that dot the way.

Along the way you'll see a number of rock formations, including some that show the power of nature overtaking them.

What the trail lacks in sweeping views, it makes up for in fun rock formations that provide lots of chances for scrambling around.

Once you've reached hte summit of Mt. Mexico, the trail will head toward Whitin Brook. A few minutes after that, you'll spot the Big Rock Caves!
