When we’re in need of something fun to do in New Hampshire there’s never a shortage! No matter the season, no matter the weather we can typically find something to make memories. The only problem? We tend to do the same things repeatedly. Once we find something we like, it’s our new go-to! But doing that keeps us from experiencing the parts of the state that are a bit off-the-beaten-path. If you do the same thing, consider checking out some of the fun spots on this list.
One of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state can be accessed via a 3.2-mile hike following a beautiful babbling brook. The route isn't terribly difficult, but it is a bit out of the way. Who says that a small town restaurant can't earn a spot on a list of the state's best hidden gems? We believe this spot is just as exciting as a hidden waterfall! Hidden inside this gas station is a fantastic cafe run by Charlie himself, who has been in the restaurant business for over 40 years. Former home and studio of famous American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this historical spot has as much beauty as it does history. The artist created tons of sculptures that are now on display throughout the country as well as on this property. Museums are a great way to learn about the world around us and this one in Dover offers tons of fun information we never knew we needed! The museum was founded when Annie Woodman, a local philanthropist passed away in 1915. Her estate was instructed to donate $100,000 to create an "institute to promote local education in science, history and the arts." After suffering from pollution and algae blooms through the 1976s, the Kezar Lake Protective Association was formed to help clean it. There are lots of fun things to do in Laconia, which means this state park often gets overshadowed. But if you love the outdoors this is a must-see when you're in the area. Comprised of 128-acres, one of the main feature of Ahern State Park is the shoreline is takes up on Lake Winnisquam. Great for hiking, swimming, walking or boating this is a fantastic park. This remote waterfall is a bit hard to find, even by New Hampshire standards! The out-and-back trail to find it is less than a mile, making it something that's doable in an afternoon.
