It’s summertime, and this hot weather has us all craving cool, refreshing drinks. Put down your glass of wine or that heavy beer – we have a unique, New Hampshire-made drink that’s just the thing for those hot summer evenings. And what’s better than supporting a Granite State business while you enjoy your delicious adult beverage?
Since its founding in 2008, Sweet Baby Vineyard in Hampstead has quickly gained recognition for its scrumptious wines, which have won awards nationally and internationally. And it's easy to root for the owners, a couple who started making wine as a hobby that quickly grew into a passion.
They turn out delicious red, white, and fruit wines, with 16 varieties currently available. You can find them throughout the Granite State, but we think it's absolutely worth paying a visit to their beautiful vineyard in person.
Of course, the best part of visiting a vineyard is the tastings, and at Sweet Baby they have great ones, in a large and comfortable room. A tasting includes 1-ounce pours of your choice of 6 wines, so it's the perfect way to get a sense for Sweet Baby's products before you choose a bottle to bring home (trust us, you won't want to leave without buying at least one!)
You'll want to take a walk around the property and admire the vines, too! They grow six of the grape varieties they use right in their vineyard, and supplement with grapes from the region and from California.
The fruit wines use solely fruit grown at local farms, so they absolutely taste like summer in New Hampshire. You'll flip for the strawberry wine – it's absolute perfection paired with chocolate! Beyond just buying fruit, the vineyard owners have also committed to donating 10% of profits to support local farmers – now that's a mission we can all get behind.
Sweet Baby Vineyard is located at 260 Stage Rd (Rt 121) Hampstead, NH 03841, and is open for tastings Thursdays and Fridays 12-4 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5 p.m. A tasting is just $3! Learn more on their website.
