One of the best things about living in New England is the easy access to top quality, fresh out of the ocean seafood. That said, tons of restaurants and grocery stores in New Hampshire serve or sell frozen seafood that comes from hundreds or thousands of miles away – what a travesty! If you want to get the best that the Granite State has to offer, head to this one fish market where you’ll find only the freshest seafood.
Al's Seafood in North Hampton is beloved by New Hampshire seafood lovers, and for good reason. This spot has an amazing fish market, as well as a restaurant where you can enjoy prepared food on site or get it to take home.
The fish here is top quality, locally-sourced whenever possible, and always the freshest you can find. The staff is always happy to share the origin of the fish, as well as tips and recipes for cooking it.
Their mussels, steamers, and more are all amazing. You really can't go wrong with anything they sell - so branch out and try something new!
If you don't want to start from scratch, they have crab cakes, cocktail shrimp, and fresh-picked lobster meat to save you a step or two.
And if you don't want to cook at all, just step over to the restaurant section. The interior of the restaurant side is rustic, with counter service only, but super cozy.
As you'd expect, they serve a darn good lobster roll here.
