It’s winter in New Hampshire! To some that might mean lots of being outside and enjoying the snow and ice, for others it means hunkering down and getting cozy with hot chocolate and fuzzy blankets. For us it means drinking as much hot chocolate as possible while we wait for the snow to fall. If you’re feeling those same vibes, we recommend heading straight to this beloved New Hampshire candy shop. In addition to loading up on sweet stuff, they’ve got one of the best hot chocolates anywhere and we think you’ll want to try it.
L. A. Burdick chocolate was born out of one man's intense love for chocolate.
He eventually found his way to Switzerland, and in Bern his love for chocolate truly took off. L. A. Burdick chocolate was founded in New York City in 1987 and eventually moved to its home in Walpole, New Hampshire in 1992.

The wonderful chocolate shop and tea room became the perfect place for Burdick's bonbons and truffles, which earned themselves a real following.
The gourmet shaved chocolate blends are intense, yet totally polished and they will likely remind you of being in Europe. It's just like hot chocolate - only far more creamy, decadent and delicious!
The drinking chocolate you take home can be made into a hot drink (our favorite in the winter!) or a cold refreshment served over ice. Use a bit less milk or cream and you can make a chocolate sauce as well. Whatever you choose, this drinking chocolate is exactly what it sounds like - chocolate that's perfect for enjoying out of a cup!
The L.A. Burdick Chocolate Shop & Cafe is located at 47 Main St., Walpole, New Hampshire. Check them out online here, or follow them on Facebook. They’re open Monday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Give them a call on 603-756-2882.
