Newfound Lake in Grafton County is 2.5 miles wide and 6 miles long, placing it in the size rankings of New Hampshire lakes only behind Winnipesaukee and Squam – yet somehow, this lake doesn't get as much love as it deserves.

At its deepest point, Newfound Lake reaches down 183 feet, meaning there's plenty of water volume moving through this lake! It's surrounded by 100 square miles of undeveloped land, meaning that it's not subject to much in the way of pollutants. Thanks to those factors and the efforts locals have made to keep the lake free of contaminants, this is the cleanest lake in New Hampshire (and possibly the United States).

The lake is home to 22 species of fish and plenty of shoreline (including islands!) to explore. Whether you choose to hike around it or explore the water by boat, you'll always find something new just around the next bend.
