The landscape and history of New Hampshire are beautiful and fun to explore, but sometimes the history can be creepy. There are quite a few places that, for one reason or another, are now completely void of people. Often times you can still see the remnants of what life was like back when things were thriving and that’s the creepiest part of all. There was a time when New Hampshire's remote logging towns were bustling! The industry was one of the most important in New England and these small spots offered good jobs and community.

Livermore, located deep in the White Mountains, dates back to 1876. A bustling logging town, there were once more than 200 residents who called this place home. There were homes and mills and plenty to do.

Today, you can still see remnants of what used to be. Just be sure you know what you're looking for. You can find the remains of what's left of Livermore just off Sawyer Road in Bartlett. The Sawyer River Trail will bring you past the ruins.
