New Hampshire is a beauty no matter the season, but there’s something special about winter. From the snow to the perfect local coffee shops to the overall coziness, there’s a special feeling that comes with the cold weather. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy to find things to do. With cold weather and the need for lots of layers, it can be hard to feel motivated and then to convince friends and family to gather their own motivation to have a local adventure. If you can relate to this, perhaps you just need a go-to list of things to try. Start with this one!
1. Go horseback riding at Farm by the River Bed & Breakfast with Stables, North Conway
Another easy-to-access spot in New Hampshire is this bed and breakfast conveniently located in North Conway. Close to a number of winter attractions, it's easy to use this as a base for exploration. But not before enjoying one of their winter horse tours! Consider this when you have a free weekend and want to stick around to enjoy all that the state has to offer. You can learn more about visiting here.
There are lots of flea markets and antique shops throughout the state, but not all of them are open year-round. The ones that are won't see lots of tourists so there's plenty to scoop up! Check out 7 of our favorites here.
Ice Sculptures is an annual event that takes place in just a few cities throughout the country. Lucky for us, North Woodstock is one of them! Created by a father in Utah who wanted to create a magical experience for his kids in the yard, this bright event takes weeks to prepare for and tons of ice! It's inexplicable so you'll just have to see it. You can learn more about it here.

4. Take a winter hike to the beautiful Thompson Falls, Hale's Location
Hikes are great year-round here in New Hampshire, but one of our favorites is this waterfall hike that's even more lovely when it snows. The out-and-back route leads directly to the falls and is just over one mile. That means it won't take all day. You can learn more about it in this article.
It might not be in the cards for every weekend, but if you have a special milestone event to celebrate this winter consider heading to one of the most well-known hotel resorts in the state. There's a whole lot of cozy going on here and you'll love all the fun winter activities you can take part in without every leaving the grounds of the hotel! You can learn more about it and book a stay here.
6. Go snow tubing at Cranmore Mountain, North Conway
Sure, there are a lot of places to ski and snow tube in New Hampshire but this one is a favorite. With ten lanes for tubing, there's plenty of room for everyone to have fun and while this might not be scientific we think this snow makes us faster! Learn more here.
7. Gaze at the White Mountains from Indian Head Resort, Lincoln
This is a great place to enjoy cold weather, while also being able to get into the outdoors. The resort's location at the entrance of the Franconia Notch Parkway places it right near the White Mountains. Lace up your skates as just one family-friendly winter activity you'll love. You can learn more about visiting on their website.
8. Enjoy a sleigh Ride at Charmingfare Farm, Candia
There aren't many better ways to enjoy the winter landscape of New Hampshire than hopping in a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the forest! The rides offered at Charmingfare Farm are cozy, fun and full of adventure. Learn more about them here.
