Pisgah State Park might be one of the most underappreciated in the state, but with a whopping 13,300 acres, it happens to be the largest. And there's so much to see and do here that you'll find yourself returning multiple times throughout the year to appreciate it all. You'll find it in Cheshire County including the towns of Winchester, Chesterfield, and Hinsdale.
Despite the fact that it's not Franconia Notch or one of the others people talk about a lot, you'll find the parking area quite full when the weather is nice. Try to arrive early if you can.
The park features lots of different landscapes including a dense forest offering a beautiful way to get lost in your thoughts no matter the time of year.
The 21-square miles of land make it not just the largest park in the New Hampshire state system, but also one of the most fun to explore. There's always something to do!
There are seven trails here, ranging from easy to moderate depending on your walking or hiking. style. Many are flat, making this a great park for beginner hikers.
Pisgah State Park is open year-round, but be aware that they close the gates during mud season. While you can still access the park, it’s closed for your safety so know that you’ll be taking a bit of a risk by entering.
