I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
Who doesn’t love wings? We are talking about spicy, creamy, finger-licking buffalo wings. Or maybe sweet, smoky, sticky wings. I personally love them all, and I know I’m not alone. Boneless or bone-in, saucy or crispy, dipped or solo, as a meal or a snack, chicken wings are one of the most popular foods in the nation. If you love wings, make plans now to enjoy your fill at the annual wing festival in Reno, Nevada.
The 9th Annual Biggest Little City Wing Fest, presented by The Row on July 28 and 29, 2023, is a weekend full of food and fun in the heart of Reno.
The festival takes place on Virginia Street between 2nd and 6th Streets. If you are unfamiliar with the area, The event will fill the street under the famous Reno Arch and outside of the hotel-casino complex owned by Caesars Entertainment which includes the Circus Circus, Silver Legacy, and Eldorado hotels.
The festival is also a competition with award-winning wing cooks coming together to offer up their best recipes in hopes of winning cash prizes - and bragging rights. On Saturday night, The Sauce Showdown is held in the Wing Ring Stadium where recipes are judged and awarded titles of “Hottest Hot Wings,” “Best Sweet Wing, etc.
As a result of some good old-fashioned healthy competition, attendees will have scores of delicious - and fiery - flavors to sample. You don’t have to wear a bib, but with over 20,000 pounds of saucy wings being served up at the event, it’s probably not a bad idea!
You will have to attend the Wing Fest to see just what’s on the menus, but past events have featured unique and delicious creations like maple bacon bourbon, salted caramel, spicy buffalo garlic, and even strawberry cheesecake.
Vendors will also be offering their own special sides to go with their particular wings.
Of course, like any great festival, the Biggest Little City Wing Fest will include loads of other activities including live music performances and a craft fair. Families with kids will enjoy face painting and adventurous activities like bungee jumping, rock climbing, camel rides, and water fun.
Let’s celebrate all things chicken wings! From sweet to fiery, and everything in between, this annual festival and competition is going to be amazing, so mark your calendars.
