Do you remember the days when gaming felt like a community experience? Back when video games first took the world by storm, kids had to head to the nearest arcade with a bag of quarters to play their favorites. As more and more gamers opt to play by themselves in the comfort of their own home these days, gaming has become more solitary. However, there are still a few arcades out there that are trying to keep the old spirit of gaming alive. This vintage arcade is located in Midtown Reno and it’s a haven for anybody who considers themselves a video game nerd. Bring your spare change and check this place out. It’s a blast and you don’t want to miss it!
From the outside, Press Start appears to be like any other neighborhood bar. However, upon stepping inside you'll be whisked into a world of nostalgia. This vintage arcade and bar is a trendy new spot that any video game enthusiast will want to check out.
Press Start Arcade & Bar opened its doors relatively recently, back in October 2017. The unique bar is a place for adults to come and act like kids again as they bask in the video game culture of yesteryear.
According to their website , the arcade is home to nearly 40 different video games. The owners of the arcade searched far and wide all over the country for some of these vintage gems, refurbishing them back to mint condition so they could be enjoyed once again.
Here you'll find all of your favorite video games that you might not have played since the 1980s. Iconic games like Asteroids, Tetris, Frogger, Donkey Kong, and Mortal Kombat II are all within your reach.
However, this arcade definitely differs from the ones of your childhood in one major way—beer! Enjoy a cold, refreshing beverage while you relive your greatest childhood memories. The arcade features a rotating selection of craft beer on tap, along with around a dozen specialty cocktails (with video game-themed names, of course.)
It's almost impossible to leave Press Start without a smile on your face. Hours of fun for just a handful of quarters is a pretty good trade-off, don't you think?
Feel like a kid again and plan a visit to this one-of-a-kind "bar-cade" in Reno. You'll find it at 1413 South Virginia Street between Miguels and Morgan's Lobster Shack. Nostalgia awaits!
