Check out one of Nevada's most underrated regions when you visit the spectacular Echo Canyon State Park, located about 12 miles east of Pioche.
Comprised of 1,800-acres of pure scenic beauty, the park's most notable feature is the Echo Canyon Reservoir which it surrounds. The reservoir was created in 1969 and has acted as a popular recreation destination ever since.
The 65-acre reservoir is connected to destinations like Spring Valley State Park and the Meadow Valley Wash. Stocked full of rainbow trout, bass, and crappie, it's become a haven for anglers. It even hosts the annual $50k Fishing Derby held every May.
However, fishing isn't the only thing Echo Canyon has to offer. Take the time to wander away from the reservoir and you'll come across a breathtaking canyon landscape just beggging to be explored.
Additionally, there are a myriad of hiking trails to choose from. The area is believed to have been once occupied by the Fremont people around 900 to 1100 C.E, and artifacts from that time have been discovered in this area. If you keep your eyes peeled, you may even come across a petroglyph or two!
