Here in Nevada, we have several incredible places to spot fall foliage. Destinations like Lamoille Canyon, Great Basin National Park, and Lake Tahoe can draw quite a crowd during the autumn months due to the vibrant hues that overtake these areas. But, there is one destination with beautiful fall foliage that often falls under the radar — Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. Here, Mother Nature not only puts on quite a remarkable show, but you may just spot all types of animals. It’s a fall day trip that will make you fall in love with this time of the year.
Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is impressive in so many ways. Located in Amargosa Valley, this is the largest remaining oasis in the Mojave Desert and the perfect place for the entire family to immerse themselves in nature.
This wildlife refuge is home to four endangered fish species and eight threatened or endangered plant species. It also has the highest concentration of endemic species in America.
You can then spend the day outdoors walking along the boardwalks and reading various interpretive signs you may come across.
For beautiful fall foliage, blue water, and picturesque views, the Crystal Springs Boardwalk is an absolute must and a great place to start your adventure.
This is a 0.6-mile loop trail that is quite easy and perfect for a family adventure. This is a beautiful sunrise hike and a wonderful place to spot some fish.
But no matter where you go at this wildlife refuge in Nevada, spend some time looking for fall foliage and lots of animal life. During this time of year, you never know what incredible creatures you may see and the autumn hues transform this area.
