When you think about Nevada, Las Vegas is most likely the first thing that comes to mind. While we do love Las Vegas, there’s so much more to Nevada than the casinos. For example, have you ever explored the many botanical gardens near Las Vegas? They’re so serene. If you’d rather see the sights from your car, there are plenty of epic road trips in Nevada that’ll take you everywhere from volcanic fields to white sandstone cliffs.

One of the best things about living in Nevada is the endless hiking trails to explore, either on foot or on a mountain bike. The 10-mile Mount Rose Trail in Washoe County is one of the most beautiful hikes in Nevada, which will take you to the highest peak in the Carson Range. Once you’re at the summit, you’ll have a phenomenal view of Lake Tahoe, Virginie City, and Reno. If you don’t want to commit to a 10+ mile hike, there are plenty of short and sweet hikes in Nevada that are great for both solo adventures or outings with the entire family. The Calico Tanks Trail in Red Rock Canyon is a kid-friendly, 2.2-mile hike that does have a lot of stairs, but the views along the way are worth every step.
