“This is one hidden cave!” Those were the memorable words spoken by Mark Harrington, the man who first discovered the Hidden Cave at Grimes Point Archaeological Site. The cave is a popular spot for history lovers and those interested in the past.
Though no one is thought to have lived in the cave, it served as a kind of storage room for what would become treasured Archaic artifacts today. The cave has been excavated many times and discoveries include burial sites, latrines, and even petroglyphs. Hike or take a guided tour to experience this prehistoric location for yourself.
