There’s a reason Highway 50 is lovingly referred to as the “Loneliest Highway in America”. Towns with actual populations are few and far between but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of hidden gems to be found along this lonesome highway. Along Highway 50 is the quaint town of Austin. It’s called a “living ghost town” since, technically, people still live here (192 of them, in fact).
