Valley of Fire State Park is one of Nevada’s most popular natural attractions, and for good reason. There’s simply always something to explore in this vibrant, unending landscape. You could spend months exploring all of the park’s most spectacular spots, but featured here is a destination for those who may not have that kind of time. Perhaps you only have an hour or two to explore this beautiful park. In this case, the famous Seven Sisters formation is a fantastic option. Seeing this bizarre rock formation is a truly unique experience and the surrounding area is a great jumping-off point for further adventures!
One of the most eye-catching points of interest in Valley of Fire State Park is the Seven Sisters rock formation. Not only is it easy to find this unique formation, but the area itself is a great place to explore when you only have a small amount of time to spend at this incredible park.
Of course, Valley of Fire is chock full of interesting sandstone formations and they come in all shapes and sizes. However, the Seven Sisters are some of the most well-known. Their iconic shape and ease of accessibility make it a popular roadside stop in the park.
You can find the Seven Sisters by following Old Arrowhead Road once you're in the park. Simply follow the signs that point you toward the area. Upon arrival, you'll spot the seven towering rock formations, situated neatly along the side of the road.
There is a small parking lot in the area, along with a picnic area and pit toilets. Whether you're looking for a place to start your adventure at Valley of Fire or simply a spot to enjoy a picnic with your family, Seven Sisters is a fantastic option.
An informational sign tells you that these giant red towers are all that remain after erosion stripped away the surrounding sandstone deposits. The unique holes that you see all over the Seven Sisters formation tell us that the towers are still eroding and will eventually be completely destroyed. But don't worry, that's hundreds of years from now.
Although there aren't any hiking trails located at the Seven Sisters picnic site, you'll find endless opportunities adventure throughout the nearby area. Just down the road are other famed Valley of Fire destinations like Atlatl Rock, Arch Rock, Fire Cave, and the Visitors Center.
If you only have a few minutes to spend at Valley of Fire State Park, a stop at Seven Sisters should definitely be considered. Boasting some of the park's most fascinating sandstone formations, this geologic oddity is well worth a quick roadside stop
