Looking to have some alone time in nature? Look no further than the Virgin Valley Campground near Winnemucca, Nevada. Tucked away in the isolated landscape of the Northern Nevada Basin, this hot spring and campground are pure tranquil bliss.
The Virgin Valley Campground is a popular stop for those on their way to explore the nearby Sheldon Wildlife Refuge. However, it's well-worth traveling all the way out here just for the stunning natural beauty this campground contains. Additionally, it's home to one of the best campground amenities ever: the Warm Spring swimming hole.
The waist-deep pond maintains a consistent temperature of about 85 degrees. The pool is minimally developed, boasting only a small ladder. Boasting a brilliant emerald color, it makes for a heavenly place to swim or soak.
The pond is notable for its clean and clear water. The springs flows especially quickly, which means the water in the pond is regularly replaced. In some areas, you can even see the bubbles from water flowing directly out of the ground.
As far as camping goes, this place is paradise for those who prefer a rustic camping experience. The campground contains 12 sites in total, each fitted with a picnic table and fire pit, and they are first-come first-served.
The sites are nice and spacious, which just adds to the remote experience. You won't have to worry too much about noisy tent neighbors. Additionally, the campground contains several vault toilets, potable water, and a shower house (which uses water from the hot spring.)
Whether you're visiting for just the day or you're looking for a multi-day escape from civilization, Virgin Valley Campground and Warm Spring are bound to impress. Plan a visit to enjoy this remote hot spring and the peace and quiet it has to offer!
