New Washoe City is a small and delightful community in between Reno and Carson City. The city may be mainly known for its close proximity to Washoe Lake, but you'll find that there are some pretty amazing restaurants here as well, including the Postal Cafe.
Postal Cafe is the type of place you'd only come across in a quiet community such as this one. The restaurant is well-loved among the locals and it's easy to see why. This place is bursting with small town charm and a big personality.
The restaurant's most unique feature is the building that it resides in. A lot of history can be felt within these walls. Nobody knows exactly how old the building is. All they know is that it started out as a gas station on Virgina Street in Reno in the late 60s and it was eventually moved to Washoe Valley.
The gas station eventually fell into disrepair and was then transformed into a video shop and post office. It wasn't until 2005 when the historic building would take on its next role as a breakfast cafe.
When it first opened, the cafe simply served coffee and pastries for donations. Over the years enough donations were made for the owner to purchase a stove and start serving breakfast! Today, the Postal Cafe has a new owner but the restaurant's homey and comfortable atmosphere has always remained.
The Postal Cafe likes to keep it simple and that's what makes it so special. They offer breakfast and lunch every day. Each dish is made from scratch in-house and prepared with the utmost love and care.
The next time you find yourself traveling in between Reno and Carson City, make it your mission to stop at this quaint cafe. The food is hot and delicious, and the company couldn't be better.
You'll find the Postal Cafe off of Interstate 395 at 3115 Eastlake Blvd Washoe Valley, NV 89704.
