If you’re a nature lover in Nevada, then you’ve undoubtedly witnessed the vibrant beauty of Valley of Fire State Park either through images or firsthand experience. After all, the park is one of the most popular natural attractions in the state, and for good reason. Its vibrant array of colors and abundance of breathtaking sandstone formations makes it a bucket list destination for every adventurer. There’s a ton of great hiking trails to take advantage of within the park, but if you’re the type that likes to avoid crowds than the lesser-known Pastel Canyon trail is simply a must.
Check out one of the most colorful sections of Valley of Fire State Park (and that's saying a lot) when you embark on the trek through Nevada's Pink Canyon, also known as Pastel Canyon.
Pink Canyon is one of the most picturesque parts of this beloved state park, yet it's actually one of the lesser-known spots as well. That's because there is no official trail at Pink Canyon and it isn't designated on any map.
Of course, this means that visitors should be extra respectful of the Leave No Trace ethics when venturing to the area. This way, the canyon will remain beautiful for years to come and we can continue to enjoy access to this gorgeous spot!
To get to Pink Canyon, you'll drive on Mouse's Tank Road towards the park's Parking Lot #3. You'll head to the bottom of Wash #5 where you can enter the multi-colored canyon on the west side.
Seeing the gorgeous pastel-shaded canyon with your own eyes is indescribable. As you embark on the trail through the canyon's slots, you'll find yourself surrounded by vibrant hues, like yellow, orange, white, and several shades of pink. It's a truly stunning sight.
The hike itself is very simple and short. It makes for a quick but memorable adventure into one of Valley of Fire's most colorful crannies. Just be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of supplies like food and water. There are no facilities or water in this area.
While you're in the area, be sure to check out the nearby Fire Wave and White Dome trail. Both are some of the park's most popular destinations and are great examples of the treasures hiding within beautiful Valley of Fire State Park.
