It’s not too late for one last adventure this summer. The end of summer is a great time to getaway for a bit and take some time for yourself. Forget about your worries, relax, and remind yourself why living in Nevada is so amazing. We’ve got the perfect destination for those who are seeking a refuge from the everyday stresses of reality. Spend the few nights at this one-of-a-kind campground and you’ll be revived and ready to take on the world once again. This unique campground is unlike anything else you’ve ever experienced and you’ll want to squeeze in a visit before summer ends.
Nestled in the Monitor Mountain Range of central Nevada, the Martin Ranch is a spectacular place to get away from the "real world" and get back to your roots. At 7,500-feet of elevation, this high alpine meadow makes for one seriously unique campground.
Martin Ranch goes way, way back. Back in 1887, James and Agnes Morrison bought the 80-acre Antelope Valley Ranch and it has been passed down in the family ever since. Six generations later, Martin Ranch is still a family-owned and operated venture.
The current owner of the ranch has kindly opened it up to visitors. This means that you can visit this breathtaking region yourself and spend a few nights sleeping in the middle of nowhere. The closest town is Eureka but even that is far, far away. Don't worry...the long drive is totally worth it.
This is pretty much as private as a campsite can get! Set up your tent at one of their camping sites and bask in the unending beauty of this delightful region. Camping sites are just $20 a day and they are totally off-grid. However, a picnic table, fire ring, and outhouse are available.
Alternatively, you can rent one of their wall tents. These tents are a little more luxurious than your standard tent and include amenities such as a queen size bed and wood stove. Or you can go all out and rent out their historical bunkhouse for ultimate comfort.
Visting the ranch is like taking a step back in time. This place feels far away from the modern world and it's absolute paradise. As you explore the area, you'll even come across some of the ranch's original homesteads which date back to the late 1800s.
You certainly won't be bored during your stay, either. With over 40,000 acres of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest surrounding you, you'll find all sorts of ATV trails, hiking trails, horseback trails, and so much more.
Surrounded by miles and miles of pristine, untouched natural beauty, this unique campground is the perfect getaway. Not many people know this place even exists and that's the beauty of it.
